Mississippi Valley Beekeepers Association

We are a group of beekeepers serving Western Illinois, Northeast Missouri, & Southeastern Iowa. We have members from Loraine, Quincy, Ursa, Ewing, Maywood, Hannibal, Monroe City, Palmyra, Perry, Philadelphia, & many other places around the Tri-state area. Some are "old-timers" overflowing with knowledge that only years & years of experience can bring while others are brand-spanking new beekeepers, just beginning to feel their way around what innocently starts as a "nice little hobby."

Some judiciously use conventional treatments to combat pests & disease in their hives while others experiment with alternative methods. Some have 400+ hives to tend while others have but just a couple to focus on.

No matter where you fall on the rainbow, the MVBA will welcome & encourage you in your beekeeping. Dues are only $16 per year with $10 of that going to the Illinois State Beekeepers Association. You will receive membership cards from both the MVBA & the ISBA, along with the ISBA bulletin mailed out every two months. (You do not have to be a resident of Illinois) Members will have an opportunity to advantage of the group buying of packaged bees each spring & join us for a great picnic each fall.

MVBA also offers mentoring as well as youth sponsorship program. Members participate in county & state fairs each year as well as sell our goods at Farmer's Markets & other area wide event in our area.

MVBA meetings are held in the basement of the Adams County Farm Bureau Building located at 330 S. 36th St. in Quincy, IL & are an invaluable tool. They are held the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM. Questions are always welcome & there is an educational program given each month.

We hope you will join us.
